Enhanced Presence Model White Paper & Presence Survival Guide

There have been multiple requests for a white paper explaining the Enhanced Presence Model for Office Communications Server 2007 and its Office Communicator 2007 clients, so we have responded to your requests with the Enhanced Presence Model White Paper, available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=DF0BA247-3884-43C7-A1E1-791D64B8BFA8&displaylang=en.

The Enhanced Presence Model White Paper provides an in-depth look at the enhanced presence model developed for Microsoft® Office Communicator 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007. This paper provides a technical backgrounder for IT, Support, and Development professionals and covers the following topics:

·         An overview of presence and enhanced presence features

·         A system overview of the enhanced presence model, including architectural components

·         The aggregation process used to collect presence input from multiple sources and determine a single presence status for a user

·         The role of containers and categories in the enhanced presence model to allow users to control the type and amount of presence information that other users see

For end users, we have created the Presence Survival Guide. The Presence Survival Guide contains basic information to help users understand presence, how it works, and how they can use it to their advantage to contact others, allow others to contact them, and to control interruptions so they are more productive. Hello Mohammad.
This is Hareesh and I am working on MS Demo Showcase project. We were wondering whether OCS2007 is compatible with Windows Server 2008 yet? If not, when will it be compatible? SP1? When will the next compatible service pack release?

Are there any installation work arounds for OCS 2007 now? (even though it is not officially supported) We would like to install it in non-production virtual machine with Windows Server 2008 as the OS.

Thanks for your help.

Does ocs implement similarly usable follower functionality (presumably as part of enhanced presence) that crosses group boundaries.

It is not clear that this is implemented in R2 but is a fundamental part of yammer and twitter.

Performing an ego filter sounds like an exclusive search and I'm not sure if the presence information is included in the results, similarly is a history of presence statusses(!) maintained?

Cheers

We are trying to implement Communicator 2007 R2 custom presence, but it will not work.  We have followed all the documentation via TechNet and online.  By using these sources we are still unable to see a custom presence.  Do you know of any bugs or hotfixes to fix this?  Also, we are using this in a test environment, would this matter?
